Top 10 Bad Habits That Cripple Your Health

I’ve come to realize that there has been a surge of interest in boosting one’s immune system.

Therefore I thought it would help you, even more, to understand what are the causes of a weak immune system and how to overcome them in your quest for a healthy you.

Top Ten Major Factors that Negatively Affect Your Health

1. Not washing your hands often enough.

During the day, you get in contact with a variety of objects, shake hands, touch doorknobs, etc.

All of these objects are covered in germs and bacteria, and you can get infected if you do not keep your hands properly cleaned.

2. Not sleeping enough.

When you are sleep deprived, your entire body functions stop working at their full capacity.

By not resting, you can’t focus as well on your daily tasks and you are more predisposed to be in a bad mood.

3. Being too static.

Finding time to workout may be difficult, but keep in mind that besides keeping you fit, when exercising, your body produces “happy hormones”, scientifically called endorphins.

It also helps you have a good posture and keeps you energized.

4. Not eating properly.

Only a balanced, complex nutrition is going to provide your organism the tools to battle against diseases.

80% of the immune system elements are found in the digestive tract.

Therefore, what you eat is highly important.

5. Eating too much sugar.

Because the blood sugar levels increase, your immune system slows down almost immediately.

What is worst is that most processed foods contain sugar in large quantities, and that’s why you need to be extra careful and always read the labels.

6. Dealing with too much stress.

Stress causes immunosuppression (an immune system disorder).

Life can prove to be quite challenging at times, but the only thing that we can actively change is the way we perceive it.

Try to become more mindful and centered. You can practice meditation one or more times a day to alleviate this problem.

7. Being depressed.

When you are in this particular state, your organism produces excessive amounts of two stress hormones (cortisol and adrenaline) which trigger the reduction in the production of antibodies and the activity of specialized cells involved in the immune response of your body.

As you can see, depression is extremely harmful not only to your mental health but to your physical health as well.

I would recommend spending some time doing meditation, listening to soothing music, taking a few walks in nature, and trying to become more settled and at peace with yourself.

8. Smoking

Besides the fact that it can aggravate lung disease (which can lead to lung or throat cancer), it also makes you more vulnerable to colds because this vice weakens your immune system.

Please don’t play around with this bad habit; it brings more harm than pleasure to you in the long run.

9. Drinking alcohol.

Excessive consumption destroys the protective layers of the esophagus and mouth, which allow the viruses and bacteria to reach the inside of your body faster.

I believe that consuming just one glass of alcohol occasionally is sufficient to not harm your defense system.

10. Taking too many antibiotics.

Besides weakening your immune system, they also destroy the healthy bacteria living in your digestive system.

Therefore, you should not take them frequently and without talking to your physician first.

Use them only if necessary, at the recommendation of your medical practitioner.
