Pumpkin – The Superfood that Scares Away Diseases

It’s not just great for making jack-o’-lanterns at Halloween. That’s all I have to say about the pumpkin, this delicious vegetable that can be grown all throughout the US.

Actually no, I have a lot to say about them, especially about their therapeutic benefits.

The pumpkin core contains a bunch of healing substances, like flavonoids, coumarin derivatives and carotenoids. These components give pumpkin its bright orange color.

And did you know that you can tell if a pumpkin is good or not by the intensity of its color? The brighter, the better.

But the most interesting fact about pumpkins is the presence of globulins in the pumpkin core, which are basically amino acids from which the body synthesizes antibodies that fight disease.

You see, your body produces antibodies for every disease. And eating pumpkin is highly beneficial for you, since it bolsters your immune system.

And besides the substances contained in the pumpkin core, its seeds also have healing properties, which are strongly recommended to help eliminate intestinal parasites in children.

Also, the presence of phytosterols in pumpkin seeds makes them an excellent treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (prostate adenoma).

But enough chit chat. Allow me to tell you exactly how you can use pumpkin in different alternative therapies:

1. Strengthen Your Immune System

To increase your immunity, take 2 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds and boil them for 5 minutes in 250 ml of water.

Add a spoonful of dried raisins and allow this composition to infuse for 15 minutes, then filter out the solid components and drink the resulting tea.

Make sure you drink 2 cups a day and if you want, you can also sweeten it with one or two teaspoons of honey.

During the winter, when the incidence of viral diseases increases, you can enrich this tea and make it even more potent, by adding a tablespoon of rosehip and another of linden flowers.

The main benefit of drinking this tea is that it increases the level of globulins in your body, which are the protein support for the production of antibodies, and the natural vitamin C, which is the metabolic catalyst for synthesizing them.

The more antibodies you have in your body, the stronger your immune system, and the more you’ll be defended against a plethora of diseases.

Season with hot pepper to accelerate the fat burning process.

Do this for only a week as consuming too much vitamin A is not healthy for your body.

Therapies with Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are probably the most popular cure that helps eliminate intestinal worms and stimulates the healing of prostate disorders.

And they’re particularly recommended to kids because these seeds are not toxic and they do not affect their growing organs.

So what do you need to do? Crush one cup of pumpkin seeds, and mix it with 5 cups of hot, sunflower oil. Then, pour it all in a Thermos and leave it there for 2-3 days.

Consume one tablespoon of that liquid in the morning and one in the evening, half an hour before meals.

Treatment for Gout, Joint Pain

To reduce the gout pain, we’ll use something called “pumpkin milk”.

Take 2 tablespoons of peeled-off seeds and let them soak in a glass of hot water, overnight.

In the morning, take the seeds out of the water (but don’t throw away the water) and then you can either pass them through the chopping machine or blender.

Now, mix that with the water they soaked in, until a homogeneous paste is formed and consume that throughout the day.

Follow this treatment for 10-15 days and try to remove alcohol, salty, hot or spicy foods, from your menu during the treatment.

The infusion and decoction of crushed seeds are also used to improve digestion and lactation. The therapeutic qualities of the seeds are due to the composition rich in microelements (phosphorus, silicon, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium), vitamins, sugars, carotenoids and a wide range of acids.
