Don’t you hate it when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed and your entire day is ruined?
This happened to me last week…
I spilled my coffee on my shirt a few minutes before leaving for the office. Needless to say that morning I was late.
As I was waiting for my wife to give me a clean shirt, I looked out the window to see if my car was ready.
But something else caught my eye…
Yeah, my cat was stretching like she didn’t have a worry in the world.
And this got me thinking…
What’s the number one thing that ruins our health in this century?
The answer is stress.
Did you know that stress overload can trigger:
- Upset stomach, including diarrhea, constipation, and nausea
- Aches, pains, and tense muscles
- Chest pain and rapid heartbeat
- Frequent colds and infections
- Loss of sexual desire and ability
- Nervousness and shaking
- Ringing in the ear
- Cold or sweaty hands and feet
And if you already suffer from at least one of them, then it’s no wonder that lately, you’ve been feeling:
- Depleted of energy
- Lacking in self-esteem
- Forgetful and disorganized
- Unable to focus on tasks
And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Long-Term Stress can worsen and even set off1 …
- Mental health problems like:
- Personality disorders
- Heart complications2:
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Abnormal heart rhythms
- Heart attacks
- Obesity and eating disorders
- Hormonal Imbalances:
- Menstrual issues
- Premature ejaculation
- Loss of sexual desire
- Skin problems:
- Permanent hair loss
- Ulcerative colitis
- Irritable colon
So, what does your morning routine have to do with stress and your health?
What you do in the morning sets the tone for your entire day.
If you walk out the door with a positive mindset3, you’ll see how amazing you’ll feel and how great everything will turn out.
So grab the bull by the horns and change your day with these lifesaving morning rituals:
1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Drink at least one glass of water as soon as you wake up.
This will help you start your „engines” and set sail for the day ahead of you.
If you want to switch it up, you can drink freshly squeezed lemon juice with lukewarm water.
This will not only help you with digestion but also fuel you with vitamin C and disease-fighting antioxidants.
They are both quite similar so it’s up to you which one you choose or feel like doing.
Cherish these moments of silence and embrace your thoughts.4
Breathe deeply and let yourself be carried away by your thoughts.
This will give you a much-needed break from your daily worries.5
3. Look forward to something.
Whether you’ll go later to hang out with friends or stay inside your house and chill in front of the TV, it’s your call.
Planning for something relaxing for you to do later in the day is your reward for tackling the challenges during the day.
4. Do something you don’t like.
Countless studies show that the highest level of willpower you have in a day is at its peak right after you wake up in the morning.
So, if you don’t like working out6 or you have to wash the dishes, this is the right time to do it.
Because it will be easier and it won’t seem like a chore.
Not to mention that later in the evening you can enjoy other stuff and feel proud that you fulfilled your duties early in the morning.
Start to incorporate these tips into your life and you’ll soon notice great changes, not only to your mood but to your overall health as well.
