How To Combat Stress And Anxiety Without Drugs

The USA is plagued with stressed and anxious people.

Americans are popping pills like they are tic-tacs and nobody seems to mind.

Do you know how harmful all these drugs are to your well being? Are you even aware of how addictive they are?

Here are just a few of the side effects of these medications:

  • Hallucinations
  • Delusional thinking
  • Confusion
  • Aggression
  • Violent behavior
  • Agitation
  • Irritability
  • Depression
  • Cognitive decline/impairment
  • Homicidal ideation
  • Heart problems
  • Withdrawal symptoms

Can you believe how invasive these drugs are?

Numerous studies have been conducted on these particular effects, and many doctors agree that anti-anxiety medication is not a cure, they only block (for a while) the symptoms of a larger issue.

This anxiety is a deep-rooted disease that affects various areas of your life and the relationship with you and your loved ones, but most importantly with yourself.

If you wish to better yourself, you will have to read carefully the following tips that I am about to tell you, and I strongly advise you to incorporate them into your life as of now.

Incorporate these tips into your life:

Being able to stop and enjoy the moment is very difficult, especially when you are overwhelmed by everything around you.

Trust me; I know how difficult life becomes sometimes.

There are picks and lows, and the toughest job we have on this Earth is to accept what we can’t change and improve what we can change.

Therefore, if there are problems at your job or in your family that you can’t seem to find a solution to, the best thing you can do is to calm down.

Most of the time the best solutions arrive when your mind is relaxed and creative.

Here are a few tips to start you on the right track of meditation:

  1. Find a place where no one can disturb you for a few minutes.
  2. Wear comfortable clothes.
  3. Sit on a chair, or lay on the bed or any position in which you feel more relaxed and centered.
  4. Start breathing through your nose deeply and exhale through your mouth. Do this for a few times.
  5. Close your eyes and let your mind drift while breathing deeply. Try to avert your attention to the rhythm of your chest while breathing, to the way your arms and legs are relaxing, etc.

Tip: if you want to shut out noises from the outside, you can listen to forest or rain sounds (whichever makes you feel calmer).

If you are new to meditation, then you should start by doing 4-minute sessions and then increase the time as you go along.

Meditating is a form of praying, of letting go of worries and embracing the unknown with no fear and enjoying the moment to the fullest.

Try doing these at least once a day.

You may have heard of this before from athletes or successful people (high achievers).

Why do you think they use it?

Visualization is a mental exercise that prepares you for greatness.

Most of the times, your biggest enemies are not the people around you, but yourself.

The mean voices inside your head that tell you ‘You can’t make it,’ ‘You are not strong enough’- they are coming from within you.

What if you would change all that?

Make a new routine and each day, in the morning or before bedtime, visualize.

For example: if you want to finish a project at work tell yourself this “My project is complete, I worked hard on it, and I am proud of myself for giving my best” or if you have issues with a friend or a family member “I am reconciled with this person, I cherish her/him, I am more patient and hear their truth”.

This mental exercise may feel weird in the beginning, but it prepares you for reality.

Once you meet that person again, you will be more aware of the situation and tackle it differently.

It will bring you in a state of comfort and happiness which is what we all strive for.

Exercise and Diet

Both of them go hand in hand, so if you want to feel good, you have to listen to your body.

Exercise helps your brain release serotonin, the ‘happy’ hormone.

Eating healthy gives you energy and focus on tackling tasks. Don’t take it for granted.

The reason why you have anxiety and stress issues is because your body produces excess amounts of hormones that make you feel this way.
