In a world that is increasingly stressful and demanding, it is important to know when and how to unwind.
Even for myself, the weight of my responsibilities used to make me very anxious and even made it hard for me to sleep. But for years now I have been using a method to relax and slow pace my thoughts into the now.
Aromatherapy is an alternative medical treatment used by many to ensure a healthier and an anti-stressful view on life.
What is aromatherapy?
In case you are not familiar with it, it’s an essential oil therapy. These essential oils are extracted from a plant’s flowers, leaves, stalks, bark, rind, or roots.
The resulted oils are then mixed with either oil, alcohol or lotion.
How can you better benefit from this mixture?
• You can massage the oils into your skin.
• Spray it in the air.
• Pour it into your bath water.
• Simply inhale it.
The fragrances in these oils stimulate nerves in the nose, and the impulses are carried to the part of the brain that controls memory and emotion. This interaction produces changes in blood pressure, pulse, etc. because it stimulates the hormones and enzymes of your body.
It is also suggested that certain oil fragrances can help the body produce pain-fighting substances. Furthermore, it has been shown that it can also alleviate depression.
However, I do not recommend you to use it if you have skin or respiratory allergies, asthma or if you are pregnant. These oils may be very irritating to people who are more sensitive. Moreover, it is not advised to ingest them. Because some oils are very potent, they can prove extremely harmful if taken internally.
Howver, if you use it in safely, then Aromatherapy is a great therapy to relieve stress and anxiety.
Its relaxing properties will help you have a better night’s sleep.
Furthermore, if you use it when you bathe, it will induce your body in a state of total serenity. Whenever you feel distressed, please use this method to unwind and luxuriate. Spoil yourself from time to time and relax.
Remember that a healthy body thrives with a healthy mind. Therefore, try this therapy and rejoice in its wonderful mental benefits.
